Budgens discount tips

The Budgens Backdrop

John Budgen opened the first Budgens store in 1872. The store was located in Berkshire and it was designed as a small grocery store. One store eventually became two and the chain expanded across the south of England. The business traded successfully for many years and became a private company in 1962. Although owned by the family for many years, in 2002 the Musgrave Group bought the Budgens chain and then started to sell off shops. Some were simply sold to other chains but many were sold to independent businesses that continued to operate under a Budgens franchise agreement. Since then the Budgens franchise has been sold to the Booker Group which is itself now owned by Tesco.

The Budgens Range

Budgens stores are independently owned but franchised. This means that the individual store owners have control over what stock is held. In general, you’ll find the same items in every store. This includes a comprehensive selection of alcohol, essentials like bread and milk, cheese, cooking ingredients, and an array of snacks and ready meals.

In-Store With Budgens

The great thing about franchise agreements is that your local Budgens is run by someone who lives and works in your community. That means they known the difficulties facing you and the special products that your community likes to buy. It’s not just about geographical knowledge. Your local Budgens is invested in the community and you’ll find they are happy to go the extra mile and stock those items that you really want or need. Of course, a local Budgens is also very convenient, you may even be able to walk then instead of having to drive. It’s worth noting that some of the Budgens stores are offering a home delivery service. You’ll need to contact your local store to see if this is an option.

It’s worth visiting the Budgens website simply to see the latest offers. They’ll inspire you to visit your local store. It should be noted that there is no option to purchase online. Budgens prefers you visit them in-store and, with so many stores across the country, you’re bound to find one on your doorstep.

The Customer Service Team

If you have an issue it’s best to speak to your local store owner. As an independent owner, they have plenty of power to resolve most issues and they won’t appreciate a call to the Budgens head office. However, if your chat with a local store owner doesn’t help then you can contact the main Budgens customer service team via the online contact form. You can also call them on the telephone or simply write to Budgens. All queries will be dealt with as quickly as possible by the friendly and knowledgeable staff.
