City Electrical Factors discount tips

How City Electrical Factors Began

In 1951 City Electrical Factors (CEF) was born. It was a creation masterminded by several investors who saw the need for electrical components to be available to tradespeople and individuals. They started with just one store. But, the company was a success and within ten years they had two more stores. The following ten years saw rapid growth, giving CEF 42 stores by 1971. The growth continued and they had nearly 650 stores by 1991 with over 400 at the turn of the 21st century. It's a success story that keeps on going and it has managed to remain a private company.

What CEF Offers

City Electrical Factors offers anything you could think of for your home or business, providing it’s electrically based. That means they have cables, cable management systems, smart technology, data and networking solutions, lighting, tools, testing equipment, and they even offer heating and ventilation. You can see all their products online, in-store, or in their catalog. It’s worth having a look.

The CEF Catalog

Although many businesses are moving away from traditional paper-based catalogs, CEF recognizes that they are still important. They produce one catalog every six months with all the latest developments and products the company stock. Anyone can order a catalog but it is particularly beneficial to tradespeople on the job. They can browse the pages and choose what they need before they even get to their local store.

CEF In-Store

As already mentioned, there are over 400 CEF stores across the UK and the network is still growing. That means there is a store near you. You’ll find they are well organized, allowing you to browse through the various product ranges and find what you need. All stores also have a trade counter which is manned at all times. This gives you the opportunity to get advice from someone with the necessary knowledge. Alternatively, they can simply be a useful and friendly contact point to order the item you need.

The CEF Website

It’s worth taking a look at the CEF website. The site is actually surprisingly plain with plenty of red and white. However, that also means it’s functional and easy to navigate. You’ll be greeted by an invitation to order the latest catalog. Scroll down and there are an array of other useful guides and publications that you can access or order. Across the top of the page are the main categories, hover on one and you’ll see an abundance of subcategories for you to choose from. Prepared to be amazed! If you’re struggling to find what you need then use the search box.

Customer Contact

CEF has a simple online chat option that hovers near the bottom of the âge. You can type any message into this and you’ll get a fast response from the customer service team. They are knowledgeable and friendly, ensuring you get the best possible advice. If you prefer it is possible to call the team or even email them. But the live chat option is definitely the faster route.

Delivery Options With CEF Online

If you’ve chosen to order products online then you can simply use the click and collect service. It’s free and your order should be in-store the next working day. Should you prefer, you can have your order delivered to your home or place of business. Orders over £5 are delivered for free and you will still get next-day delivery from Monday to Friday.

Staying In Touch

However, it's also worth connecting with them on Facebook or Twitter. They have active accounts that will give you the same news and deals as the newsletter. But, you’ll also gain access to the online community. That’s one of the best ways of sharing information and checking out products before you buy. It could be the best move you ever make.
