Harrods discount tips

The Harrods Story

Harrods is arguably the most famous department store in the world. It is known for offering the most luxurious and fashionable items at prices that many people can’t afford. They cater to the high-end market but, that doesn’t mean you can’t visit and pick up a bargain or two! The Harrods story began in 1824 when Charles Henry Harrod opened a store in Borough High Street. This store survived until 1831 and in 1832 he opened Harrod & Co Grocers, also in London. A wholesale grocery store followed, and then, in 1849, he opened a store in Brompton. This was created to cater to the impending Great Exhibition but turned into so much more.

Business Success

Since then the business has grown and, although it has faced challenges, the store continues to flourish today. It’s currently owned by Qatar Holdings.

The Product Range

Harrods motto is ‘Omnia Omnibus Ubique’. The Latin translates as ‘all things for all people everywhere’. It’s certainly true that Harrods offers an impressive array of products. You’ll find clothing for men, women, and children, an array of the latest electronic gadgets, jewellery, toys, food, drink, beauty products, and so much more. The range is nothing short of impressive.

Online Catalog

Of course, you can’t get a catalog listing all these items, but you will find the entire stock range online. This helps the store to reach people around the world without them having to physically visit it.

Visiting Harrods

There is only one Harrods store. It’s still based in London, covers an impressive five-acre site, has seven floors, and 330 departments within the store. The products are generally high-end but this is still one location that everyone should visit at least once. You should note that there is still a dress code, ripped jeans, beachwear, flip flops, and even ‘unkempt’ clothing are banned. What’s funny is that Harrods sells many of these items.

Browsing Only

The store is open for browsing only between 11.30 am and 12 pm. Other than this it is possible to walk in and buy items every day of the week. A visit is an experience. It’s hard to picture the scale of the store and the opulence inside. You can stroll through the various departments and you’ll find something of interest. The staff are on hand to discreetly help if you need them, the customer service is, understandably, exemplary.

Online With Harrods

Harrods may be an old store but it keeps up to date with the latest trends, specifically selling online. The website is well designed and easy to navigate. One-click on the three horizontal bars in the top left of the screen will lead you to the various categories. Simply click your way through them and the subcategories to isolate the product you need, or want. You can add items to your basket and continue shopping.

Store Exploration

It’s also worth looking at the ‘explore the store’ section as this can help you to feel the Harrods experience.

Delivery Options

Your order can be delivered to your home for free, providing you spend over £100. Delivery usually takes between 2-5 days although you can also use a nominated day service. If you’re close enough you can even pick up items in-store.

The Customer Service Team

If you need any assistance the customer service team are ready to help you. You can contact them via phone, email, or use the online form. All options get speedy responses.

The Harrods Discount

Harrods generally offers a 10% discount if you join their rewards scheme, this operates in a similar way to most loyalty schemes. Of course, there are terms and conditions attached.

Clearance Lines

You’ll also find a range of items in the clearance section which can help you to save money when shopping at Harrods.

Discount Codes

However, the best way to ensure you get a discount is to check out the discount codes here at www.1offers.co.uk. You’ll find several codes that can be taken and used before you complete the purchase process. Every code is checked and verified daily, ensuring you can shop with confidence. We do recommend you take the code the day you want to use it, this will ensure you get the discount you need.

Staying In Touch

Add your email to the bottom of the website and you’ll be included in the monthly newsletter. This goes straight into your inbox and keeps you up to date with all the latest Harrods news, special events, and new product ranges.
