Millets discount tips

The Millets Story

In the mid-1990s, there was an abundance of stores trading under the Millets name. It’s believed that they were all owned by the original Millet family and stores were given as a dowry on the marriage of their daughters. All the stores sold the same array of surplus clothing with camping and leisure gear. In 1970 Blacks of Greenock purchased twenty-eight of these Millets stores and it purchased the Millets Leisure PLC in 1999. The PC was a group of nearly 100 stores founded by the original Millet family in 1893. It’s fair to say Blacks were the first to bring all the stores together. They have owned them since and continue to run them as a separate brand.

The Millets Range

Today, Millets continues to sell camping gear and a complete array of outdoor clothing and accessories to match. Whether you’re interested in camping, hiking, or any other outdoor activity you’ll find Millets has something you can use. Millets has an extensive array of men’s and women’s clothing, it also has connections with a wide number of popular brands, such as Berghaus, Crocs, Eurohike, etc. You should note that Millets no longer produces a catalog although you will find individual flyers in-store that remind you of some of the best product ranges and perhaps a promotion or two.

Millets Stores

Millets has approximately 100 stores located across the UK. That means you’ll find one near you. It is worth noting that Blacks met with financial trouble and entered receivership in 2020. Millets, and several other parts of the group, were purchased by JD Sports and continue to trade as their own brand. The in-store experience is excellent. Millet stores are well stocked and you’ll get to try on as many different products as you wish until you find the perfect solution for your needs. The staff are knowledgeable and happy to help, whether you need a different size or to know which item is better.
