Ryman discount tips

The Ryman Story

Ryman was started by Henry J. Ryman in 1893. The first store opened in Great Portland Street, London and had sales of £50 in the first week. That’s an impressive sum of money at that time. It is known as the first self-service stationery shop. Henry J. Ryman kept many journals, these illustrate his passion for stationery products and ensuring that all customers could access the products they needed.

Family Connection

The business was handed down through the family for many generations, by 1951 it had 11 stores across the UK. The grandsons of Henry J. Ryman took over the store then and focused on expansion with self-service counters. They oversaw an increase in turnover from £250,000 per year to £16 million. The business subsequently merged with Habitat in 1968 and then sold Habitat in 1970. This was followed by the sale of Ryman from the brothers to the Burton Group in 1972. The company hit financial difficulty in 1995 and was bought by prominent businessman Theo Paphitis. The business has steadily improved since.

Ryman Products

In 1986 Ryman introduced a mail-order catalog, which listed all their current products. The catalog was a great hit, allowing shoppers to order directly without visiting one of the stores. Today, several Ryan catalogs exist, including the Business catalog which highlights over 3,000 products, and the Education catalog that lists over 1,600 products.

Impressive Product Range

Of course, all products can also be seen online and the entire catalog can be downloaded if desired. The business offers every stationery or office-based item that you can think of. From traditional paper and ink to printers, office furniture, computers, and even laminators and label printers.

Home & Garden range

Alongside this, you’ll want to check out the home and garden range. This gives you an array of furniture options for every room in your house. They also offer camping accessories and fitness aids, such as fitness trackers and even table-tennis tables. In short, if you need something for learning, your work, or your home, Ryman will probably have it.

Visiting Ryman Stores

There are more than 200 Ryman stores across the UK. That means there is almost certain to be one near you. It’s worth visiting. Although the internet is convenient, visiting a store is an experience in itself. You’ll be amazed at the array of products, all organized into sections.

First Class Staff On Hand

There are friendly and knowledgeable staff on hand to help. But, the best part of being in the store is that you can play with the different items. This gives you a real feel of what they are like and whether they are what you need or not. It can help you to choose the right products for your needs.

Ryman Online

Of course, it’s hard to beat the convenience of scrolling through the internet at any time of the day or night and ordering the items you need. The Ryman site is clean, simple, and very easy to navigate. You’ll be met by their latest promotion and you can scroll down the page to select the category you’d like to look through.

Live Chat Option

At this stage, you’ll notice the small ‘hi’ that pops up in the bottom left of the screen. This gives you access to the live chat feed, allowing you to get help from the online customer service team. The home page also introduces the most popular items, bestsellers, and an array of inspirational ideas. These cover creating a home office and keeping children amused.

Delivery Options

You can add all the items you’re interested in to your basket and then head to the checkout. The standard delivery option takes 5-7 days but it’s free if you spend over £40. The alternative is to pay a little more and get next day delivery. That’s useful if you need the products urgently. You can also choose a named day delivery or to simply collect the items at our local store.

Customer Service Contact

Alongside the live chat option, you can contact the helpful customer service team via email or telephone. They are there to help.
