BHS discount tips

BHS History

British Home Stores, BHS, was first founded nearly 100 years ago, in 1928. The company started in London, although it was actually started by a group of American entrepreneurs. They aimed to bring US clothing and household items to the UK market. The premise was successful and for many years the company flourished. There were as many as 163 stores located across the UK. However, after Sir Phillip Green bought the business in 2000 it experienced several loss-making years. This led to the business being sold again and then, following an unsuccessful attempt at turning it around, the business was closed down. BHS stopped trading in 2016. However, the online rights were salvaged and today the Litecraft Group operates BHS online. There are no longer any physical stores to visit.

The BHS Stock Range

BHS originally traded in clothing and household items, this range expanded to encompass almost anything you can think of for the home. Today, it sells a more limited range of items, focusing primarily on lighting and household items. You’ll find an array of lighting products for every room, including light shades and spare bulbs. There are also an array of textile options, such as towels and bedding sets. It may not have the range of items but the stock available is high quality and reasonably priced.

BHS Online

The BHS website is well put together. The moment you arrive on the homepage you’ll recognize the BHS logo and colours. You’ll be greeted with the latest stock arrivals, hopefully inspiring you. Scroll down the page and you’ll discover the different lighting categories, helping you to choose the perfect lamp or light fitting. At the top of the page is the standard three horizontal bars. A click on these will allow you to move directly to your intended type of lighting. It’s arranged by room to make it easier to find something that adheres to the current rules and regulations. Once you’ve scrolled through the various options simply add the items you want to your cart and head to the checkout.

Chatting With BHS

The first thing you’ll notice when visiting the website is the ‘chat with us’ box that appears in the bottom left of the screen. You can type any query in this box and the virtual shopping assistant will help you find the answer. If you prefer, you can email the customer service team and you’ll get a prompt response regarding your issue. You should note that there is also a long list of FAQs on the site. It can be worth looking through these as you may find the answer you need.

BHS Delivery

If you’re ordering online you’ll want to know they are using a secure and efficient delivery service. The good news is BHS offers free standard delivery on all orders over £16. This type of delivery should get your order to you within 4-5 days. It is possible to get it faster but it will cost a little more. Of course, if you’re not happy with anything you order it can be returned within 14 days with no question asked, providing you’ve not already used or installed it.

Discounts & BHS Promotions

BHS recognizes it needs to rebuild market confidence in its brand. For this reason, the prices are attractive and they offer frequent promotions. This can reduce the price of many items by as much as 50%. However, if the promotion isn’t on the item you want you can still save yourself some money. Simply take a look at the discount codes on offer. You’re already on www.1offers.co.uk, you’ll find several codes worth looking at, all you have to do is choose the one that saves you the most money. Every code is checked daily to ensure it remains valid. However, because codes can expire quickly, it’s best to take the code the day you’re going to use it, this will allow you to shop with confidence.

Newsletter

BHS encourages you to sign up for their newsletter. You’ll get 15% off your next order and be one of the first to know about all the latest news, new product ranges, and exclusive offers. Of course, if you really want to be in the know you need to connect with BHS on social media. They are currently active on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Join them and you’ll get the latest news even faster than with the newsletter. You’ll also get to chat with other customers, allowing you to exchange stories and reviews. That can make a big difference in which items you decide to buy.
