Evans Cycles discount tips

The Evans Cycles Story

Frederick Evans started his cycling shop in the early 1920s. He achieved fame for creating the first quick release and reversible rear wheel device. For his achievement, he was given the Cyclists’ Touring Club’s first silver plaque. That was 1925 and his cycle shop proved to be popular, as did his invention. His business focused on touring bikes and during the 1930s he used French-designed derailleurs to give his bikes up to 12 gears. At the end of the 1930s, Evans signed up to the air force in 1939 to help in the war. He survived the war but was killed in a road accident and never returned to his store. Fortunately, his wife took over and business continued. A few years later the shop was sold to Joe Smith, it stayed in his family until 2008 when ECI Partners took a majority stake. Frasers Group took it on in 2018.
