Fernando Durate invited his friend Robbie Brozin to a small Portuguese eatery in South Africa, the year was 1987 and the chicken was marinated in PERi-PERi. It was the start of their dream and a lot of hard work.
Of course, they didn’t invent PERi-PERi, the Portuguese discovered this spice centuries ago when they stopped at Africa while exploring. Durate and Brozin opened a second restaurant in South Africa and emphasized fun as much as profit. This was how the business was born and how it steadily grew. Unsurprisingly, the key ingredient in many of Nando’s products is PERi-PERi. They are a restaurant chain and provide high-quality food that has a unique flavour. Today they offer hundreds of different dishes, not all have the PERi-PERi hot sauce.
