Pret A Manger discount tips

The Pret a Manger Story

In 1984 Jeffrey Hyman opened the first Pret a Manger. Unfortunately, after just 18 months the business was struggling to make a profit. It went into administration where Sinclair Beecham and Julian Metcalfe bought the rights. They subsequently opened a new store in the middle of 1986. They focused on handmade natural food and the business prospered. It has since created the Pret Foundation Trust which aims to help the homeless, in part by delivering unsold food to them at the end of each day. The company has gradually expanded and gone from strength-to-strength. Although the health pandemic of 2019/2020 did cause a downturn in trade and the loss of jobs, they retained the shops and continued to build on their success.

Pret a Manger Products

The focus is on handmade food that uses only natural ingredients. It helped them build success in the 1980s and is even more relevant in the 21st century. They make their sandwiches on-site on the day they are sold, this ensures their freshness. Wherever possible the company uses local suppliers, and their sandwiches are sold in paper-based containers as opposed to plastic. The menu is expansive, especially considering the sandwiches are made to order. Alongside seasonal options, the basic menu is available throughout the year. You’ll find an array of baguettes, ranging from brie, pistachio & cranberry to Chicken Caesar and bacon. They also offer an array of sweet treats, a huge selection of hot drinks, breakfast baguettes, and croissants, and even a dinner menu. You’ll find the complete menu online or in-store, they don’t produce takeaway menus as these are not environmentally friendly.

The Online Options

The Pret a Manger website is vibrant and fun, similar to their shops. You’ll be greeted by the seasonal delights which may tempt you. Alternatively, you can click on the three horizontal bars in the top left and be taken straight to the options. It’s worth looking at the menu first before you select the ‘order online’ option. The menu is split into baguettes, breakfast, dinner, drinks, etc. This helps you to navigate through and choose the items that appeal the most. When you’ve chosen you can use the ‘order online’ option to order your food. There are two options. The first is to order ahead and specify a time you’d like to collect your food. The second is to have your order prepared and delivered to you as soon as it's ready. It’s very easy to use, simply select your local shop, add the items you want, and pay. If you choose the delivery option then your food will be delivered through Uber Eat, Just Eat, or Deliveroo. There is a small charge for this. If you have any queries you can click on the customer services link at the bottom of the page. You’ll find allergy advice, FAQs, and the opportunity to contact Pret a Manger via an online form.
