Notcutts was started in 1897 by William Notcutt. However, he was actually purchasing a nursery and Georgian house which had been owned by Thomas Wood in 1749. He started Woods Nursery, a business that stayed in the family until 1897 when there was no heir left to take the reins. The idea behind Notcutts was simply to foster William’s interest in nature and ensure he was outdoors as much as possible. His doctors had recommended this approach. The business was a success and has been run by family members from 1897 until 2007. At this stage, the company was sold to the management team. But, it continues the same values and has enjoyed a huge amount of success over the years.
Notcutts is a nursery and sells an impressive array of plants, including indoor and outdoor varieties.
