John Robinson started Jigsaw in 1970. The premise was simply to make money and started after he had holidayed in Turkey. While there he bought a sheepskin coat and, on returning to the UK, found everyone wanted one. He and his friend returned to Istanbul and bought 60 coats to sell in the UK, a business was born! Since then it has opened physical stores across the country, boasted a turnover in excess of £100 million, and has even briefly employed Kate Middleton, while she was dating Prince William.
After the success of sheepskin coats, the Jigsaw range was initially aimed at women. However, as the company has expanded it has moved into menswear and even has a children’s line. However, these trade under different names, leaving the Jigsaw brand uniquely for women. The range includes coats, jackets, dresses, trousers, shoes, and a host of other accessories, such as handbags and jewellery. Jigsaw continues it’s original theme, offering the customer what they want at reasonable prices. Their product range is heavily influenced by the latest fashions, ensuring every product is beautifully crafted and authentic, while practical.
Interestingly, jigsaw continues to produce a traditional catalog, although you can also download it online. The catalog is produced twice a year, in spring and autumn, and runs to approximately 5à pages. It may not illustrate all the clothing and accessories on offer, but it does show you what exciting new ranges are arriving. There are approximately 80 Jigsaw stores across the UK. This means you’ll be able to locate one relatively close to you.
