The beginnings of Sostrene Grene can be traced to 1973. A Danish couple, Knud Cresten Vaupell Olsen and Inger Grene opened a new store. Their aim was simple, to establish a shop different from all others that catered specifically for those who were curious. The store was called Sostrene Grene which translates as The Grene Sisters. The shop proved to be a success and the business slowly expanded across the country and into the rest of Europe. Today it is run by two brothers, the sons of the original founders, and is present in 16 different countries. Four of these stores are in the UK.
